Key mindsets for this role
Everything is my job. In a small and growing startup, we do our own small tasks like scheduling and credit cards, and we take them just as seriously as the big tasks. We also help with work that may not be “ours.”
People matter. At the center of our work are people. We value every person, their stories, their diversity, their uniqueness. We always approach people with empathy.
Be antiracist. We confront and work to dismantle the systems and power that led to and sustain racial inequities in our schools.
Deliver results. The quality of our work matters. Our commitments matter— all the time. We follow through on what we say and take outcomes seriously.

We have a specific niche in school improvement and turnaround work, especially schools with federal improvement designations.
Our Vision
We believe in a future where every kid who goes to any school has a positive and successful learning experience. To make this future a reality, we must develop leaders who can run schools that work for every child- schools where students belong, where they learn, and where their voices matter. PIVOT: School Improvement Leaders prepares leaders who are:
High performing, with deep technical knowledge base
Innovative thinkers that understand the demands of 21st century education
Optimistic, inspiring, people that others believe in and want to follow
Empathetic, self- aware, believe in the potential and perspective of others
Resilient, gritty, and energized by complex challenges
Our Values
We are Persistent. We work hard to get results, and we enjoy working hard. We learn through challenge and failure, and we view mistakes as opportunities for reflection and refinement. We are activated and energized by the opportunity to try again and get better.
We are Inclusive. We value the perspectives and contributions of others in action, not just in theory. We build systems, policies, and culture that intentionally ensure access for everyone, especially people from historically marginalized groups.
We are Versatile. We know this work takes both a clear vision and the flexibility to respond along the way. We engage and adjust skill sets and strategies as needed.
We are Optimistic. We lead with a belief in what is possible. We find and celebrate bright spots, and we chase the promise.
We are Thoughtful. We seek to understand, reflect, listen, and plan. We anchor in personal experiences, the experiences of others in the work, and the data and results. We are not here to be right; we are here to get it right.
